Domus Pacis Family Respite

Founded in 2008, Domus Pacis Family Respite provides Colorado families affected by cancer with a peaceful place to rest, reconnect, and spend meaningful time together during an incredibly difficult season of life. Through the generous donation of private mountain homes in Summit County, Colorado, families are welcomed into comfortable, homelike settings for complimentary week-long respite stays focused on togetherness, healing, and creating lasting memories.

Domus Pacis helps ease the financial and emotional burdens that often make travel difficult by covering lodging and coordinating community-supported meals, activities, and gift cards during each family’s stay. The organization works closely with healthcare professionals to ensure families are medically able to travel safely, allowing them to focus on what matters most: simply being together.

What began by serving eight families in its first year has grown into a community-supported program serving families from across Colorado. Today, more than 90 Summit County homeowners donate weeks in their homes, over 100 local businesses contribute meals, experiences, and support, and dedicated volunteers help make each respite stay possible through hospitality, outreach, events, and fundraising efforts.
